Providers allow you to manage and provision resources with infrastructure and other service providers.
They also allow you to source data managed outside of a blueprint and use custom vendor-specific functions in your blueprints.

Transformers accelarate application development by providing a collection of abstract resources (e.g. API, database or queue)
A transformer will turn these abstract resources in a blueprint into a set of concrete provider resources that can be deployed to a specific environment.
